Okay, "Solana 2.0"... Give me a break.
Solana: "Ethereum Killer" or Just Another Flash in the Pan?
The Solana Hype Train: Still Rolling?
Every freakin' year it's the same story. "This crypto is gonna EXPLODE!" "This blockchain is the ETHEREUM KILLER!" Remember that? Remember all the "Ethereum killers"? Where are they now? Collecting digital dust, that's where.
And now it's Solana's turn *again*?
This latest round of hype is all about speed and low transaction fees, right? Okay, I get it. Ethereum gas fees can be highway robbery. But speed ain't everything. My grandma drives slow as hell, but she always gets where she's going.
Solana can process thousands of transactions per second (tps), maybe even 65,000 if you believe the marketing BS. But does anyone *actually* need that much speed? Are we all buying and selling crypto every millisecond of the day? I sure as hell ain't.
And then there's the whole "meme coin" thing. Official Trump (TRUMP -1.42%) is built on Solana? That's supposed to be a selling point? Seriously? We're basing the future of finance on meme coins now? What a joke.
Proof-of-History or Just Smoke and Mirrors?
The "Revolutionary" Tech: Proof-of-History?
They're bragging about this "proof-of-history" validation method. Sounds fancy, right? It's supposed to be what makes Solana so damn fast. But here's the thing: Is it *actually* revolutionary, or just a different way to skin the same cat? I mean, at the end of the day, it's still just a blockchain, right? So what's so different?
And speaking of "different," what about all the outages Solana has had? Remember when the whole damn thing just shut down for hours? How's that for "high-performance"?
What happens when the network gets congested? What happens when some jackass decides to launch a million spam transactions? Does it all grind to a halt again?
I'm just asking the questions nobody else seems to be asking.
They also claim that Solana is being used for tokenization of real-world assets (RWAs). Tokenized stocks, tokenized bonds... Sounds great in theory. But let's be real here: How much of that is *actually* happening? Is it just a bunch of pilot programs and press releases, or are real people actually using this stuff?
The Future of Cryptocurrency in the Gulf Cooperation Council Countries explores the potential of cryptocurrency in various markets.
Then again, maybe I'm the crazy one here. Maybe I'm just too cynical to see the "amazing potential" of Solana. Maybe I'm just stuck in the past, clinging to my Bitcoin and my outdated ideas about finance.
Nah.
I still think it's mostly hype.
Solana Pay: Another "Revolution" Nobody Asked For?
Solana Pay: The Retail Revolution That Wasn't?
Oh, and let's not forget Solana Pay. Integrated with Shopify? Big deal. How many *actual* businesses are using it? How many *actual* customers are paying with Solana?
I'm willing to bet it's a tiny fraction of a tiny fraction. Most people still don't even know what Solana *is*, let alone how to use it to buy a freakin' coffee. My old man can barely use email, you expect him to buy NFTs with Solana?
This reminds me of my landlord, always promising to fix the leaky roof...still waiting.
It's the Same Old Song and Dance
